Most of us – me included – grind through the struggles of our daily lives with little time to really know and understand all the things that our elected officials are doing behind the scenes. We only see the results when we are confronted with – and often HARMED by – the results of their machinations in real life.
The problem is that while those of us who actually keep the economy and society afloat are busy with our “noses to the grindstone, and our shoulders to the wheel”, COMMON SENSE is drowned out by those with political agendas (academics and politicians) who have the time and privilege to engage in social engineering efforts rather than doing the hard work of actually addressing the troubling issues facing us. They are more interested in promoting their divisive WOKE agendas and/or pleasing their industrial masters than in actually solving society’s REAL problems.
The current political climate focuses on divisive CLASS POLITICS, pitting small groups of self-interested segments of society against each other for the sake of political power. Special interest groups tend to benefit, while the costs are forcibly passed onto and absorbed by the general population – obviously to the detriment of society as a whole. This begs the question…… “If we are all equal, why are some more equal than others”? Political polarization exacerbates every problematic societal issue that we face.
The “teeter-totter” politics of New Brunswick simply MUST come to an end because history proves that nothing ever changes when there is an election. As voters we must evaluate whether each successive shift from one political party to the other improved or diminished our circumstances. The feedback that I receive as I meet the constituents in my riding indicates that for most people things have actually deteriorated. And thus, it shall continue if we don’t get off this political merry-go-round.
A staunch PC supporter could never consider voting for a Liberal. A staunch Liberal supporter could never consider voting for a PC. NDP policies simply do not resonate with New Brunswickers. The Green party is too narrowly focused. Yet ALL of them have perspectives that could, with a drive towards consensus, contribute to the betterment of our overall social and economic environment. While people struggle to break their political/ideological chains, in private conversations they find a great deal of common ground.
So, what is the solution?? I firmly believe that the solution is offered by the People’s Alliance Party of NB because of that party’s balanced, common-sense approach to addressing the issues at hand. We don’t need confrontation and divisiveness; we need engagement and compromise. We need government that appropriately balances solid, conservative fiscal management with a proper understanding of its social responsibilities.
We have all seen how destructive polarized politics has been over the years of successive Liberal and PC governments. For New Brunswickers, the BEST outcome of the coming election would be to have a MINORITY government with strong representation from the balanced, common-sense, conservative perspective offered by the People’s Alliance Party. As such, I am asking for your support, and for your vote in the coming election.
