The not-so-secret secret is out: Rick DeSaulniers confirms that he will run in the riding of Fredericton-Grand Lake-Minto in the upcoming fall election.
DeSaulniers, previously elected in 2018 as the MLA for Fredericton-York under the party banner, is a lifelong resident of Marysville, so when the opportunity presented for him to run in his home riding, he jumped at it. “I am grateful for the trust and support constituents in Fredericton-York have shown me,” he says.
The People’s Alliance promotes a platform of meaningful change from politics as usual, very different from either the PC or the Liberals, and promises genuine, meaningful change. When I was elected party leader, I knew it wouldn’t be easy to overcome this damage and rebuild trust and respect”, says DeSaulniers. “After two years of hard work, I believe we’re in a position to stand tall and proud and represent well.”
DeSaulniers admits there might be a small amount of personal satisfaction in going up against his former leader. “I have an opportunity to offer the constituents of this riding another chance at the change they so desperately wanted.
