An article posted today, May 16th, by the Telegraph Journal online highlights the continued lack of basic human compassion shown repeatedly by the Higgs PC Government.

Kimberley Donald has lived in a two-bedroom NB Housing Unit for nearly 20 years (the necessity of that is a whole other issue) while raising her son. Now that her son no longer lives with her, she is being asked to give up that unit for a family as she now requires only a single-resident dwelling. OK. That makes sense.

What doesn’t make sense is that (A) – Ms. Donald was originally told in February that she would be moved to a single unit, but in April was told she would need to find her own, and (B) – she was given a cap of $925.00 in a market where the average 1-bedroom is currently $1200.00 plus.

This is simply not acceptable. There’s no other way to say it. This is heartless, irresponsible, and inhumane, and government needs to step up to the plate immediately.

This is not the first time, nor even the second that this government has demonstrated a clear lack of compassion for our vulnerable citizens.
